Abrahamic initiative for mid-east peace
February 12, 2009
The US-based National Interreligious Leadership Initiative for Peace in the Middle East (NILI) has stepped up its activities in the aftermath of the recent Gaza conflict. NILI provides much useful information on their web site, including practical advice for local interreligious initiatives, prayers for peace from each of our traditions, and a variety of model documents, op-ed pieces, ideas for modelling behaviour that demonstrates peace between our religious communities, and more.
The site provides much-needed information and actionable items we can work together on the difficult but critical task of creating peace.

Basically, it boils down to this: not only do Jews, Christians and Muslims share Abraham as our father, but we share the Prophet Moses. If we didn’t, then striving over the Land of Israel (biblically the Land of Canaan) would be rational; i.e., if Jesus or Mohammad excluded Moses as a true prophet, we would have cause for argument. But we ALL accept Moses, so why aren’t we on the same page? This is something to further explore. There’s a tiny sliver of earth which God gave to the children of Jacob (the Jews) and this concept finds harmony in the Books of Christianity and Islam. We sometimes like to ignore what our own books say and try to take a political approach. Political approaches, hard as we all may try, are doomed from the outset because this is Holy Land and a religious approach will ultimately be the only workable option.

W ether Christians, Jews or Muslems, we need to recognize that solving problems by force of arms is not the way to go.. This has been tried over and over and does not work.
What we need is Jaw Jaw instead of war, war.
