Three faiths comedy act
June 8, 2008
The New York Times reports on a comedy act based on the three faiths. It would appear that the New Age Borsht Belt has evolved into the Kebab Comedy Circuit.
Rabbi Bob Alper, Azhar Usman (Muslim) and Nazareth Rizkallah (Evangelical Christian) performed recently at Drew University in New Jersey.
Alper is a full time comedian, and Usman has been on the Allah Made Me Funny tour.
I always say that “it all starts with a conversation”, and if we can laugh together, all the better!

I agree with the need for conversation. I’ve linked to a post on just such a conversation. I wonder how my newly made friend and I would respond to the humour of these guys. Being able to laugh at ourselves is a good place to be, followed by respect and sharing of stories.

Thanks for the link, Jill … I guess our challenge is to look for these kind of interactions, embrace them, be really good at listening, and then integrating what we learn into ourselves …
